A plan is easier to keep when it updates itself. ReadList learns your pace from your reading sessions and shows how long the rest of the book will take.
Free, through Apple’s TestFlight app. Your library carries over to the App Store release.
ReadList is on iPhone first. Leave your email and we’ll tell you the day it’s ready for Android.
How it works
How the daily target is calculated
Pages a day is the number of pages you have left divided by the days you’ll actually read, rounded up so you never fall behind. The count includes today and your finish date, minus any days off.
Pages a day=(book length − current page)÷reading days
14 days−2 days off=12 reading days
(412 − 87)÷12=27.1→28 pages a day
(28 ÷ 40)×60≈42 min a day
Make the plan stick
- Note the page you need to reach today, not just the number of pages.
- Read a little past it when you can. A cushion makes a busy day painless.
- If you fall behind, recalculate from where you are instead of doubling up.
Days off are spread through the week: one is the seventh day, two are the fourth and seventh, three are the third, fifth and seventh, counting from today.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
How many pages a day to finish a book in a week?
Divide the pages you have left by seven. For a 300-page book that’s 43 pages a day, a little over an hour at a typical pace.
Does the count include today?
Yes. Today and the finish date both count, so “by Friday” means you can still read on Friday. If you won’t read today, choose one day fewer.
How do days off change the target?
They take reading days away, so each remaining day carries more. With two weeks and one day off a week, you have 12 reading days instead of 14.
What if I miss a day?
Enter your current page again. The plan spreads what’s left over the days you still have, so one missed day costs a few pages, not a double session.
Does it work for ebooks?
Yes. Use the page count your app shows, or treat the book as 100 pages and enter your current percent.
